In recent years, Khorezm has significantly strengthened its economic position. The region has already attracted more than $4 billion in foreign investment, while around 10,000 new production facilities have been launched. Today, small businesses account for approximately 72% of the region’s gross regional product, while their share in Khorezm’s exports has reached 81% — the highest level in Uzbekistan.
At the same time, the region continues to attract major projects. In mid-August, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched 12 projects with a total value of $176 million. Another 15 projects worth $7.4 billion have entered the construction stage. Their implementation is expected to create around 6,600 jobs.
New areas of development include the production of sustainable aviation fuel and bioethanol, waste processing and green energy generation, a copper cluster, fiber-optic cable manufacturing, as well as new tourism and infrastructure projects.
Transport connectivity is also improving: over the past five years, the number of weekly flights has increased from 16 to 102, while the number of passenger train services has risen from 8 to 41.
Khorezm is increasingly positioning itself not only as a tourism hub, but also as a destination for manufacturing, exports, and international investment.
