Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan have signed a six-party agreement to further develop the CASCA+ railway corridor, reinforcing regional transport connectivity and trade cooperation.
The agreement aims to increase freight volumes, reduce transit times, and establish a more competitive tariff framework. During the meeting, the participating countries reviewed the corridor’s performance in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, while also discussing existing operational challenges and measures to improve efficiency.
About CASCA+
CASCA+ is a joint initiative of the national railway operators of six countries, connecting three strategic regions:
→ Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan
→ South Caucasus: Azerbaijan and Georgia
→ Anatolia: Türkiye
The “+” in the corridor’s name reflects its openness to future participants. The long-term vision is to create an efficient transport link connecting Southeast Asia, including China, with European markets.
Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role as a key transit hub within both the CASCA+ Corridor and the broader Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), facilitating connectivity between Central Asia and Europe.
