The Azerbaijan-Uzbek Investment Company team reviews each application individually. Based on this experience, we’ve prepared a short but helpful guide with recommendations on how to avoid common mistakes when submitting an investment application.
⚡️Even a strong idea can get lost without structure, logic, or basic preparation.
Avoid:
✖️ Vague and abstract descriptions
A lack of specifics about the product, target audience, or business model makes it hard to assess the project’s potential.
✖️ Missing financial calculations
Projects without a basic financial framework or with overly optimistic projections come across as underdeveloped.
✖️ Underestimating the role of the team
Investors care not only about the idea but also about the people behind it. Resumes of key team members are essential.
✖️ Ignoring partnership mechanisms
It’s important to define how you plan to work with an investor: responsibilities, decision-making, and scaling potential.
✖️ Lack of introductory information
A brief cover letter with a project summary improves the efficiency of the initial evaluation.
Recommendations for your cover letter:
✔️ Present a clear investment proposal
Your project should have a clear business logic: what problem is being solved, in which market, how, and what resources are needed.
✔️ Demonstrate feasibility and realism
Outline implementation steps, timelines, and key risks.
✔️ Provide an up-to-date document package
A business plan, market research, feasibility study, financial model, team structure, and initiator background — this is the minimum required set.
✔️ Understand AUIC’s participation model
We invest in equity, with a maximum ownership of 49%. It’s important that the initiator understands this co-investment logic and is ready for strategic dialogue, as well as building an effective and transparent system of corporate governance and reporting.
✔️ Keep it structured and concise
A clear and concise presentation reflects the team’s professionalism and deep understanding of the project.
